Professor Layton and the Unwound Future lands on mobile

Temporary discounts available

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future has now landed on iOS and Android. This here is a HD remaster of the third entry in the original Layton trilogy, which was arguably the best of the bunch.

Its story kicks off with Layton receiving a letter from his apprentice, Luke – albeit one from ten years in the future. Turns out London is about to be thrown into chaos thanks to a wonky time machine, which explodes and seemingly gobbles up several attendees, including the Prime Minister. And so Layton and Luke once again partner up to solve the mystery and save London from a future most foul.

As I say, Unwound Future benefits from the same HD makeover that Level-5 also brought to the mobile ports of Curious Village and Diabolical box. Expect intuitive touchscreen controls and a greatly improved visual presentation.

The core game does appear to remain the same, however, which is obviously no bad thing. You’ll work to solve over 200 logic puzzles and riddles while enjoying some wonderful art. The Layton series in general is just super charming, and if you happened to miss any of them, Level-5 has released a discounted trilogy bundle.

Strangely, Unwound Future by itself is actually more expensive than the earlier games, coming in at $13.99 as opposed to $9.99. And that’s with a launch discount, too, which is set to end on July 27th. The trilogy bundle is currently priced at $23.99, though that’s again with a temporary discount. I should also point out that the trilogy bundle is seemingly only available on the App Store for now.
